Before you access the Akashic Records, you want to make sure you are prepared physically, mentally, and energetically to receive the wisdom and transformational healing within the Records. In this post, I will share 10 simple invitations to help you feel grounded, present, supported, and open as you enter your Akashic Records.
IN THIS POST, WE WILL COVER:
- What are the Akashic Records?
- What to Expect When Accessing the Akashic Records
- Invitations to Deepen Your Connection
- Before You Enter the Records
- While in the Records
- After Opening the Records
- Honoring the Sacred Non-Negotiables
When I first began accessing the Akashic Records, I had a list of rituals I thought I absolutely needed to complete before I opened them. I hear this concept a lot from clients and those who are interested in the Records. They want to know exactly what to do and what to expect. Or they think by not doing everything perfectly they can somehow mess this up (just fyi, you can't mess this up!).
First, I want to say that I am here to prepare you for and guide you on this journey. I am not here to give you hard-and-fast rules or dogma to follow. Accessing the Akashic Records is a deeply personal experience. Through my own journey, I’ve learned that there are no absolutes. When you surrender and trust the process, that is when the magic happens!
My intention is to help you release fear of the unknown and remove any obstacles blocking you from accessing the Records and receiving their beautiful healing.
That’s why we will explore invitations to be aware of when accessing the Akashic Records. I like to call them invitations, not rules, because I invite you to try them and explore. In my experience, these invitations have led to the deepest connection to the Records.
Before we dive in, let’s do a quick refresher ... what are the Akashic Records?
The Akashic Records are a remembering of your Soul and its unique journey. They contain everything that every Soul has ever thought, said, and done over the course of its existence — from past lives, to present life, and all future possibilities.
You can ask the Records infinite questions and receive guidance from your Masters, Teachers, and Loved Ones to support you on your path.

What can you expect when accessing the Akashic Records?
Everyone experiences the Records differently. Some people will receive visions, hear messages, see colors, or simply feel a connection and a deep inner knowing. Sometimes messages will come through more strongly, other times more subtly. There is no “right” experience, so I encourage you to let go of perfectionism and release expectations (more on this later).
When you access the Akashic Records, you will likely feel a similar subtle energy as your intuition. We’re all getting messages all the time — it’s just a matter of how tapped in we are to receive them.
In my experience doing Akashic Records readings with clients, the information that comes through often reaffirms what they already knew to be true. The Records feel like a more direct connection to your intuition.
Invitations to be aware of when accessing the Akashic Records:
Before You Enter the Records
1. Establish Your Akashic Rituals
Creating a ritual around accessing the Records can help you feel grounded and supported. This includes how you set up your space and creating an ongoing supportive practice. Find what helps you feel connected and at ease.
Here are some grounding rituals I love:
- Connecting to your breath with a few cycles of intentional inhales and exhales — your breath is always there to anchor you
- Meditation and/or breathwork (you can find guided meditations and breathwork practices in the The Akashic Portal)
- Smudging with a tool that is aligned with your ancestry
- Taking a walk outside
- Playing soothing music
- Intuitive movement to shift your energy
- Journaling to release how you are feeling
2. Prepare your questions
Once the Records are open, a lot of information can come through. I recommend preparing your questions beforehand. This will help you stay focused and open to receiving the guidance you seek.
3. Set Your Intention
An intention is what you want to create, feel, and be in the present moment. Creating a clear intention before opening the Akashic Records allows you to center yourself and drop into your heart.

4. Have Your Akashic Journal Nearby
I recommend having a journal specifically for your Akashic Records journey. This could be a physical notebook, typed notes, or even voice memos. Permission to do what works for you! Documenting your experiences helps you reflect and integrate the guidance you receive.
5. Observe with Gentle Awareness
While you’re in your Records, it’s important to release expectations and focus on how you feel rather than trying to analyze what comes through. Allow yourself to be in the moment and receive the messages with an open heart.
6. Trust the Process
Throughout this journey, trust that you were led here for a reason. The Akashic Records want to connect with you. Be patient with yourself and this process. Keep showing up, and know that the journey in connecting with the Records is one that evolves as you do. Over time, you will build trust within the Records and within yourself.

7. Co-Create with Your Records
Your relationship with the Records is a co-creation, not a one-sided experience. Continue going into your Records, implementing the guidance they offer you, and looking for ways they can support you in your day-to-day life.
8. Prioritize Integration
While your time in the Records will be a powerful healing experience, the real magic happens in the in-between. Being present in your life and applying the insights, guidance, and love from your Masters, Teachers, and Loved Ones is where true transformation occurs.
9. Journal and Reflect on Your Experience
There are no rules when it comes to your journaling practice, but it is important to capture the insights and messages you are receiving. Write it down if that feels supportive, type it out, leave yourself audio notes — find a way to capture the experience and give yourself the gift of space to reflect on the experience.
Throughout Your Journey
10. Honor the Sacred Non-Negotiables
When working with the Akashic Records, it's important to honor the sacred non-negotiables. You can think of these as the agreements you enter into when you work with the Records:
- You must be 18 years or older to access the Records. Typically, this is because individuals under 18 are still figuring out who they are, their likes/dislikes, their opinions, etc.
- If you’re opening the Records of someone other than yourself, you MUST have their permission. If you skip over this, the Records will close off.
- It’s recommended that you don’t take any recreational drugs or drink alcohol at least 24 hours before opening the Records so you can be present, grounded, and available for the experience.
- When opening up the Records, use the person’s full legal name.
- Check in with yourself. Make sure you are feeling grounded in your space and body.
- Everyone experiences the Records in a different way — release expectations and focus on how you feel.
Conclusion
When you are grounded and open, you will be a clear channel to receive transformational healing and guidance from the Akashic Records. By following these invitations, you can deepen your connection with the Records and integrate their wisdom into your everyday life. Remember, this journey is personal and unique to you. Trust in the process, be gentle with yourself, and allow the Records to support your highest good.
