For a long time, I thought honoring my spiritual practice meant doing it “the right way.”
You probably know the version I’m talking about:
Waking up at sunrise, meditating in silence for 30 uninterrupted minutes, journaling by candlelight with a warm cup of tea.
And while those moments can be beautiful and sometimes, they are my reality — most of the time, my practice looks very different.
It’s messier. Shorter. Simpler. And, truthfully, more human.
Some days, it’s a few deep breaths on the floor before jumping into the day.
Some days, it’s asking the Records one question between meetings.
Some days, it’s just putting my hand on my heart and reminding myself that I’m doing my best.
And over time, I’ve come to understand that this, too, is honoring my practice.
Where the Pressure Comes From
We live in a world that often values appearances over presence. Social media, even when inspiring, can quietly convince us that spiritual connection should look a certain way.
We’re shown curated altars, hour-long rituals, and slow, quiet mornings — and while all of that can be lovely, it’s not the only way to connect.
What happens when your life doesn’t look like that?
When you’re working full-time, caretaking, healing, or just trying to keep up with daily life?
It’s easy to feel like you’re “not doing enough.”
But spiritual practice is not about performing or proving.
It’s about making space to listen.
To reconnect with yourself in whatever way feels possible today.
So What Is a Spiritual Practice, Really?
At its core, your spiritual practice is any intentional action that brings you back to yourself.
It might be meditating. But it might also be walking in silence, journaling one sentence, or lighting a candle and taking three mindful breaths.
It doesn’t need to be big to be real.
It just needs to feel nourishing to you.
That’s what makes it powerful.
How You Know It’s Working (Even If It’s Small)
You might not feel an immediate shift every time you show up.
But over time, even the simplest practices begin to create subtle, meaningful change.
You may notice:
Pulling a card and letting its message sit with me while I brush my teeth
Taking a quiet walk and asking one question to my guides
Putting on a breathwork practice when I’m overstimulated and need to ground
Saying no to another obligation because I need space to check in with myself
Letting the tears come, and not rushing to “fix” them
These are the quiet signs your practice is supporting you — even if it doesn't always feel profound in the moment.

A Simple Framework for Reimagining Your Practice
If your spiritual practice doesn’t feel like it fits anymore, or if you’ve fallen out of rhythm, here’s a gentle way to begin again:
1. What helps me feel grounded?
Think about small actions that help you feel centered. Is it movement? Stillness? Music? Silence?
2. What reconnects me to myself?
Where do you feel most like you? Is it when you’re in nature? Reflecting with a journal? Opening your Akashic Records?
3. What’s actually doable right now?
Your practice can shift based on your energy, your schedule, your season of life. What feels possible today?
Journal Prompt:
“Right now, my spiritual practice feels supportive when I…”
Start there. Keep it simple. Build from what’s real.
Ways to Make It Your Own
There’s no “right” way to do this work — only the way that works for you.
Here are a few ways your practice might look:
A five-minute breathwork practice to start your day
A short check-in with your Records once a week
Pulling an oracle card and sitting with the insight
Journaling one sentence of truth before bed
Letting yourself cry, stretch, or be still for a moment without trying to fix anything
And it’s okay if it changes.
Your spiritual practice should meet you where you are — not demand you be somewhere else.

Consistency Helps — But Intention Matters More
Let’s be honest: showing up regularly does make a difference.
But the goal isn’t to be perfect — it’s to be present.
One intentional breath will do more for your nervous system than 20 minutes of distracted “doing.”
One honest question in the Records will offer more than checking a box out of obligation.
You don’t need a perfect streak to grow.
You just need a way to return.
You’re Allowed to Start Exactly Where You Are
If you’ve been waiting for the “right time” to reconnect with your spiritual practice…
If you’ve been feeling like you’re behind or doing it wrong…
If you’ve been holding yourself to a standard that doesn’t match your life…
Here’s your permission to let that go.
You can start again right now.
You can define what this looks like — for you.
You can create a practice that is flexible, supportive, and rooted in self-trust.
And if it would feel helpful to have a space to return to, I’d love to welcome you into The Akashic Portal.
This is your practice.
Your rhythm.
Your return.
