Lately, I’ve been witnessing two extreme approaches to healing — those who are intensely immersed in the inner work and those who feel they have moved past it. I’d like to propose an alternate, gentler path: Healing is a lifelong process that is embodied in the joys of everyday living. In this post, we’ll explore how to weave healing into your life in ways that feel seamless and intuitive instead of intense and overwhelming.

In this post, you will learn:

  • Why we may view healing in extreme polarities
  • Why healing is truly found in the everyday living
  • How to approach your healing journey in a gentler way
  • How to explore your past without getting lost in it
  • 6 simple tips to weave healing into your life more seamlessly

〰️

I’m always listening, and I’ve noticed something lately in my conversations with clients and in the collective conversation. When it comes to healing, I’ve witnessed people speaking about their journeys in extreme polarities.

On one side, folks are “all in” on their healing — they are intensely focused on the inner work, exploring all modalities they can get their hands on, and diving deep into shadow work, past trauma, inner child healing. They are so immersed in healing that they aren’t fully living.

Conversely, I hear from others that they are ‘done’ with their healing. They feel like, ‘I did this big, intense thing, and now I’m ready to move on to what’s next.’ This feels like a side effect of pouring yourself fervently and single-mindedly into the healing process. When you approach inner work that way — as hard work — burnout is understandable, and perhaps inevitable.

I’d like to invite in another, softer way of approaching your healing. It is simple, yet I believe it makes all the difference.

Healing is in the LIVING.

Take a moment to let that sink in. Let’s celebrate the fact that we are healing simply through living in the present moment, through inviting in joy, through soaking in each moment.

Healing is a lifelong journey. In fact, from what I’ve witnessed doing hundreds of Akashic Records readings, it’s a journey that continues through many lifetimes. It’s never ‘done.’

So the question is, how do we integrate healing into our lives in a way that feels nourishing instead of overwhelming? My intention is to explore this question and offer simple tips for weaving healing into your life without feeling like you’re on a never-ending loop.

Dissecting The Past vs. Living In The Present

Before we dive into tips for living in the present, I want to touch on looking back into the past. I’ve noticed with some of my clients and others I’ve spoken to that there is an obsession with delving into the past, pulling apart past traumas, and going deep into where they failed or what they could have done better.

The past holds power, and I’ve personally found shadow work, inner child healing, and revisiting past lives through the Akashic Records transformative. I believe there is a place for all of this, and I teach it in my courses and Akashic Portal community

However, I want to offer that you don’t always need to be looking at past traumas or dissecting every experience. Looking through the lens of the past can often lead to more pain, as we recount memories influenced by who we are today. Some things from your past are meant to stay there, and that is more than OK.

Sometimes, taking space from the deeper inner work allows you the opportunity to integrate. You can heal through being, through presence, through joyful experiences…through LIVING. Let’s explore how that looks in practice.

6 Invitations To a Gentler Approach To Healing

1. Feel your feelings

Every single day, we experience a wide range of emotions. There is a tendency to feel the need to dissect, inspect, or react to every emotion. What if you allowed yourself to simply sit with your feelings? What if instead of resisting or pushing down anger, fear, hurt, or jealousy, you let it move through your physical body as it wants to? When we allow ourselves to be with our feelings, they move through us.

In fact, Harvard scientist Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor found that when you don’t resist, it only takes 90 seconds for an emotion to dissolve. Anything that comes after that is caused by the recurring story you tell yourself. Allow yourself to really feel the emotion for that 90 seconds, and breathe into it. You can be present with your feelings without being defined by them.

2. Create your toolkit

The healing is in the living when you have simple, go-to practices that are integrated into your everyday life. When it comes to healing practices, you don’t have to feel pressure to do all the things. You don’t need to do the trendy modality you’ve seen on social or that your friends are doing. The beauty is in knowing what works for you.

You also don’t need to commit to anything time consuming, complicated, or expensive. Your practice can look like a walk outside, rest, a breath pattern, meditation, or pulling a card from a deck that brings you comfort. These practices are all free!

If you’re still discovering your personal practices and looking for guidance, I invite you to check out The Akashic Portal for inspiration.

3. Connect to something bigger than yourself

Connecting with your guides or your spirit team is a remembering that you are deeply held. Even in challenging times, you are not alone. For me, going into my Akashic Records makes me feel connected to my guides, and that helps me build trust in myself. I find that it’s the quickest way for me to recenter.

For you, this can look like going into your Records or connecting to your guides through meditation or channeled writing. (Read more about ways to explore the Akashic Records here.)

4. Get curious about your cycles

We move through so many cycles — every year, every month, and every day. I invite you to bring awareness to these cycles and how they can support you to be more gentle with yourself.

As a collective on the macro level, we move through cycles of the moon and nature’s seasonal cycles. Think about how you may feel creation energy in the fall, a pull inward in the winter, rebirth in the spring, and adventurous fire energy in the summer. How can you lean into those energies and make the most of them?

On an individual level, we move through many energy cycles that can fluctuate depending on our hormones, physical health, mental health, and so many more factors that are unique to each of us. Our energy levels can change day to day, hour to hour, even minute to minute sometimes. There is so much power in recognizing and tuning into your own energy.

When you are tuned in, it opens up space not to push or rush ourselves. When you’re feeling low energy, honor that and prioritize rest. When you’re feeling expansive and in creation, honor that and tap into your creativity. The ebbs and flows are part of this beautiful life!

5. Get in touch with your body

Your body — the vessel you are moving through this life in — holds infinite wisdom. All you need to do is ask. Get quiet and ask yourself, ‘What is my body communicating? What is it asking for? Am I needing to lie down? Do I need some water? Do I need to get outside? Do I need movement?’ There is so much power in being in conversation with your body.

You may not get clear answers the first time you ask. It’s an ongoing practice. Your connection to your body will strengthen the more you foster this communication. By dropping into your physical body, you are dropping out of your head and into your heart. THIS is where the healing lives!

6. Resist comparison to others

Your healing journey is yours and yours alone. Allow it to unfurl on your own timeline. There is no need to compare yourself to what other people are doing or how fast they are moving. From the outside, we never know the full picture of others’ journeys.

All we can do is trust in our own path. When you stop playing the comparison game, you’ll be amazed at the spaciousness that opens up in your life. With this spaciousness, you’ll have more opportunities to be in divine flow and invite in the miracles that were meant for you!

Conclusion

We’re always healing, but this process does not need to feel daunting or intimidating. You don’t need to put your life on pause to do the healing work. It’s actually the opposite — healing is about living your life. We’re here to enjoy our life — this beautiful, limited time on Earth when our Souls came into human form. Be present and savor every moment!
